Directed by Tamara McCarthy, Fall 2019
Gruesome Playground Injuries is the story of two childhood friends, told in vignettes from across their lives. The story moves back and forth in time, and the director wanted to have these slow, measured interludes between scenes. I worked with several motifs that mingled and evolved through the piece, including samples from Dream A Little Dream, The Great Gig In The Sky by Pink Floyd & A Quiet Life by Teho Teardo & Blixa Bargeld. In interludes where the play went back in time, I arranged the motifs to use a lot of reversed audio to contrast the going forward of the other interludes. Each Interlude had an intro, a loop & and an outro, so the lengths of time that they went could be varied from night to night without compromising the way they blended in and out of the scenes.
